Feels like I waited forever for this release day. And now it’s finally here.
Office Affair is officially available.
Did I happen to mention this was the book I never intended to write? Yep, I always knew there was a possibility it could exist, but I never really gave it a second thought.
You see, Office Affair is in fact the sequel to Island Idyll, from the Bandicoot Cove Anthology. (Just a word here: You don’t need to have read Island Idyll to enjoy Office Affair. The two are completely separate and stand alone. BUT, if you plan on reading both of them, read II first, as Office Affair contains tons of spoilers.)
After I finished writing Island Idyll, I put the book away, and moved on to completing See You In My Dreams. What I never expected was for a reader to contact me the minute she’d finished Island Idyll, and ask about a sequel. When I read her email, a bizarre thing happened. The book came to mind, almost fully formed. That has never happened before. Usually I get a vague idea about a book and a vague feel for the characters, and I sit down, start writing and see where the story takes me. With Office Affair it was different. I knew exactly where and how the story would go. It was almost as if my hero had been waiting for the right time to let me know he wanted his tale told. (Kitty Kelly’s email was all it took to get him to speak out. So from both Ben and I, thank you, Kitty Cat!)
Then came the second surprise with this book. While I expected it to be a shortish novella, and figured I’d wrap it up in a few months, all that changed once the first three chapters were down. First off, I couldn’t stop writing. Not for a minute. The words just kept pouring out. Which meant the novella turned into a novel, and my editor – who’d expected a 25 000 word book – was landed with a story more than double as long. It also meant that within six weeks, the whole damn thing was written. Which is of itself a minor miracle, since I am an excruciatingly slow writer.
Now comes the third surprise, one I’ve only enjoyed in the last few days. The reviews are starting to come in. So far, I have three – Fallen Angel Reviews, Guilty Pleasures, And Pearl’s World of Romance – and all of them have labelled the book A Recommended Read or an Awesome Read!
So, what is Office Affair all about?
Here’s the blurb:
All work and no play? Not for this girl. Not anymore.
Melissa Sparks has had enough. Enough of being an overachiever, enough of having no social life, enough of being lonely. Just this once she wants a change. Something different. Something that looks very much like her business associate, Ben Cowley.
Ben is all alone in the deserted offices of Preston Elks. He’s gorgeous, he’s single and he’s been her secret fantasy for the last two years. It’s a split-second decision, but there’s no going back.
When Ben looks up from his desk, the last thing he expects to see is his too-serious, straight-laced colleague stripping naked. It’s been a year since his last relationship ended, and though he’s still picking up the pieces, Melissa throws his carefully balanced world off its axis. So does her offer: a brief affair, no strings attached.
Right about the time he realizes a simple affair will never be enough, she’s back in professional mode—and clearly as distant as ever. Now it’s up to him to show her that what they have is no fluke…and he’ll do whatever it takes to convince her. Even if it means inviting another man into their bed.
Warning: This book contains a man haunted by his past decisions, a woman determined to succeed, sex hot enough to steam up every office window on the block, and a voyeur who gets off watching those windows steam up.
(Oh, and be doubly warned…this is my hottest, dirtiest book to date. Seriously? When I had to find a clean scene for the Samhain website…well, it was close to impossible.)
